Founded in 2007, the art of music is celebrated internationally by musicians, music fans, and independently owned record shops with festivities that include special vinyl and CD releases, promotional items, and even parades. But Record Store Day is not just for audiophiles digging for deals and rare finds. This Saturday, local record shops join the celebration and treat their customers to live music.

Manitoba Music is heading across the ocean for a trade mission to one of Europe’s biggest music markets: Germany. The Manitoba delegation will be hitting Berlin and Hamburg in September for a series of networking and business events and a prominent showcase with acclaimed local indie rock acts, Greg MacPherson and Les Jupes.

Building on the success of Manitoba Music’s participation in MUSEXPO EU 2010 in London, Popkomm 2008 in Berlin, and a long history of successful export marketing events at MIDEM in France, this mission will focus on high-level networking and business development opportunities for Manitoba companies and showcases for artist.
