Small Girl halts traffic at the intersection of jazz, blues, burlesque, and performance art - an original, brilliant, and progressive jazz quartet whose vivacious singer channels the spirit of Jacques Brel, the intensity of Edith Piaf, and the gall of Lenny Bruce, while removing most of her clothes. Together since 1999, we've performed at the Calgary Arts Centre for the High Performance Rodeo, and internationally, at 6 different stages during Burning Man 2008. We've also pushed the envelope at The Gas Station Theatre, The Garrick Theatre, The Winnipeg Art Gallery, Club Desire, Ms. Purdy's and other Winnipeg theatres, galleries, and clubs. Small Girl, AKA Aliza Amihude, vocalist, leads the world-class band with co-composer Jeff Presslaff on piano (named Manitoba Jazz Musician of the Year in 2004); Scott Senior (formerly of The Duhks) on drums and percussion; and first-call stand-up bassist, Gilles Fournier. Lively 45-60 minute sets of original dirty blues, burlesque moves, quirky jazz, and social satire will elate you.
