Soul Killing Female

Acoustic, Ambient, Industrial, Metal, Prog Rock

Formed in 2004, Soul Killing Female is an atmospheric, progressive sludge-metal band from Winnipeg, Canada,. The band has released two albums thus far: Utopia Mine (2009), and Landmines (2010).
Farewell to Light, the band’s first EP, is an electro-acoustic environment meant for cold winter days, rainy afternoons or sleepless nights. Featuring the clean melodic vocals and trance-inducing atmospheres of SKF main-man Michael Lewis, the record also features guitar by Shane Barron of the Canadian progressive metal band Grand Master.
Farewell to Light is a transition piece. Beginning with “Saigon”, the EP connects back to the airy melodies and sweeping keyboard soundscapes of its predecessor, Landmines. Following two more acoustic tracks, “Tiny Graves” and “Hard Candy”, the EP closes with the title track: a 22-minute claustrophobic piece meant to lead the way into the follow-up, Kind of Red, a crushingly heavy descent into hell, due out September 2012.

The band will be touring western Canada in March and April to promote Farewell to Light. Check www.kill-a-dj.com for tour dates.
