Süss sounds like Ricky Lee Jones and Joni Mitchell went on a post-brunch pineapple bike ride doing imitations of Tori Amos with commentary from Louden Wainwright III. Her ingenious song construction and ironic lyrics sometimes play with time signatures leading into either queer or gory themes, but you can always hear the smile in her voice. Süss alternates between piano and guitar. Her 2007 debut album, 'i just ride my bike' received four out of five stars from U of W's, The Uniter, and continues to be a favorite on CBC Radio 1 and 2. The album was recorded at Lion's Den Studio with Dan Donahue, who also made an excursion to record Süss playing a 9-foot Yamaha grand piano. The title track, 'Bike: i just ride my bike' was featured in a local Worker Owned Courier Co-op video alongside Coco Love Alcorn's bicycle song. Last year Süss abandoned her 12-string for a Gibson 6-string mini-jumbo, which is now called, 'Baby Daddy', and she's began to apply her finger-picking style to it. It made its public debut at the 'Girls! Girls! Girls!' show themed, 'Rapture' at the Gas Station Arts Centre show in March 2010. Süss is currently writing towards a sophomore album. You can catch Süss solo or with a trio, quartet or quintet.
