Winnipeg multi-instrumentalist and producer Rusty Matyas (Imaginary Cities, Waking Eyes, Weakerthans side-man) has teamed up with his wife Savanna to release Stocking Stuffers, a collection of their favourite holiday songs, including their own original "Under the Mistletoe".

This project was born in early August, 2013 when Savanna asked Rusty to record some Christmas songs with her as a gift to their friends and family. Over the course of the next two months the project developed into a full length, full production album of 14 tracks all recorded in their Winnipeg home. Rusty arranged and performed all of the instruments on the record, and helped guide Savanna through her first ever recording experience, a far cry from her regular profession as an occupational therapist. Some familiar local voices were recruited to sing on the New Year's Eve staple (and bonus track) "Auld Lang Syne", including Jean Guy Roy (Federal Lights), Grant Davidson (Slow Leaves) and Joey Penner (the Waking Eyes, Jicah). The couple had fun with this record, utilizing music boxes, wind effects, children's laughter, barking dogs and many other happy household noises. Jean Guy Roy's son also provides the adorable "wish list" at the end of Tom Petty's classic "Christmas all Over Again".

In addition to their holiday favourites, the couple wanted to create an original song that captured their love of the holidays and of each other. On a muggy August evening, the Matyas' home was filled with Christmas spirit and visions of sugarplums as they fleshed out the music and lyrics to "Under the Mistletoe".

Stocking Stuffers will be released on November 26th, 2013. Digital copies will be available on iTunes and physical copies will be available at Music Trader, Into the Music and the Folk Fest Music store
