About

This ongoing series will bring together integral members of an established artist’s team to discuss how they came together, how they work within the team, and how they leverage each other’s skills and connections to move their artist’s career forward.

About Nick Bernal

Nick founded Nevado in 2008 originally as a management company for small up-and-coming bands at the time, which also became a record label in 2009 that went on to release music from now nationally recognized artists such as Bahamas (JUNO-nominated), The Golden Dogs, Yukon Blonde (2x Polaris Prize Long List nominee), Library Voices (WCMA nominee) and more. More recently, Nick also became a product manager at Dine Alone Records (City and Colour, Tokyo Police Club, Marilyn Manson, Civil Wars, Yukon Blonde) working with such artists as Deer Tick, James Vincent McMorrow, Neon Indian and Pains Of Being Pure At Heart among others, and is part of the Bedlam Music Management company which manages the careers of such artists as City and Colour, The Sheepdogs, Monster Truck, Doldrums and several more. Nick currently manages Yukon Blonde, Library Voices, Great Bloomers and Megan Bonnell under both the Nevado and Bedlam umbrellas.

About Eli Klein

Klein was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta where he cut his teeth working as a promoter, campus radio DJ, talent buyer and tour/artist manager. Since moving to Toronto to work in artist management in 2006, he moved over to The Agency Group shortly thereafter. During his early years as an assistant at TAG he worked on tours for Feist, Broken Social Scene, Ra Ra Riot, Dinosaur JR, The Weakerthans, City & Colour, Passion Pit and many more. Once promoted to agent in 2011 he has built a roster of his own including Library Voices, Peaches, Young Empires, Saul Williams, Austra and Islands.

About Michael Dawson and Library Voices

Library Voices is a ten piece pop collective formed in 2008 from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Blending tremolo soaked guitars with analog synths, vintage organs, circuit bent electronics, accordion, saxophone, and glockenspiel, their songs play out like an AM radio jingle; mixing the best of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and today.

Since forming in spring of 2008, the group has operated at a feverish pace, recording a 3 song demo, recording and releasing a 6 song ep, and are currently in the studio recording a full length follow up. They have participated in several high profile festivals and showcases including Sled Island (Mogwai, Of Montreal, Okkervil River), Regina Folk Festival (Broken Social Scene, The Weakerthans, Final Fantasy), Gateway Festival (Greg Keelor), and Ness Creek Festival. The band has also shared the stage with the likes of Stars and Plants & Animals. In addition, the band shot a television commercial for their single Step Of The Map & Float to promote the Regina Folk Festival and has been featured on CBC Radio 1 and Radio 3.
