Manitoba Music, Songwriters Association of Canada, and Culture Days present...
This year's WritersConnect event for Culture Days features a 'bird's eye view' of collaboration in songwriting, as audience members observe a co-writing session between Bryce Pallister, Chris Burke-Gaffney, and Jaylene Johnson. There will be an opportunity for Q&A toward the end of the session.
Winnipeg's multi award-winning producer, manager, and songwriter, Chris Burke-Gaffney, has spent many years sharing his musical experiences with artists. From signing a record deal and landing a top 10 single as a teenager, touring the country with Guns N’ Roses and AC/DC, developing Canadian talent like Chantal Kreviazuk, and penning and producing songs with countless award-winning artists, he has a lot to share. Burke-Gaffney serves on the board of the Songwriters Association of Canada.
If you watch television, you’ve probably heard Jaylene Johnson's music. This 2011 Western Canadian Music Award nominee has a growing international audience through placements in television shows including Pretty Little Liars and Degrassi: The Next Generation. In addition to own material, her knack for co-writing has also opened doors for her to pen tunes with artists across genres, both in Canada and abroad.
Portage La Prairie’s Bryce Pallister has been making his mark on the country music scene with his Ricky Scaggs, George Strait, and Allman Brothers-infused songwriting. His record, RDY 2GO (2009) delivered "pure" country music, and has been heard on radio across the country. Look for new material from Bryce very soon.
