Being in the music business means being in business, and you need to hone your basic business skills to make it work. Learn some basic bookkeeping and inventory skills to help you organize your finances, file your taxes properly, and claim GST. Heather Bishop's workshops on tax planning and business skills have helped countless independent artists and entrepreneurs balance their cheque books, and are always one of the most popular MusicWorks events.



A recently recipient of the Western Canadian Music Awards' Industry Builder award, Heather Bishop has been active in the folk community since the late 1960s. In 1976 she founded Mother of Pearl Records and has self-released several albums. She is Manitoba top-selling independent artist and was made a member of the Order of Canada in 2005.
