A one-of-a-kind songwriting workshop with the critically-acclaimed and brilliant Canadian singer-songwriter Hawksley Workman.

The Songwriter in Residence program runs June 9-11 and features one-on-one afternoon sessions with Hawksley, as well as three evening songwriting classes.

Monday, June 9, 7-9pm

Anatomy of a Song – Hawksley Workman dissects a couple of his favourite songs to find out what makes them work. This session will look at how form, lyrics, and melody come together to create a song that cuts above the rest.

Tuesday, June 10, 7-9pm

Inspiration vs. Perspiration – This workshop will address the balance of the art and craft of songwriting. Hawksley will talk about following your muse, while working to forge new ground and break old habits.

Wednesday, June 11, 7-9pm

Page to the Stage – Performing songwriters not only have to create the song, they have to deliver it. This session will look at getting songs ready to perform - finding the right key, tempo and feel, arranging the song for performance, and delivering the emotional impact of the song.

Full Registration: $40 members, $60 non-members - includes a private one-on-one songwriting session plus three evening songwriting workshops.

Workshop Registration:
$25 members, $40 non-members - includes any or all of the three evening songwriting workshops.
