This workshop will help you understand how to set up your business, manage your inventory, and prepare your taxes. Do you need to incorporate? Are the band members employees? Do you have to claim inventory on your tax return? How do you claim GST? Answer these questions and more, and gain the insight that will help position your music company on a solid financial footing.



Lorne Sprackman has been practicing as a Chartered Accountant for over 20 years. Throughout his career, he has focused on the entertainment industry allowing him to develop an in depth knowledge of the business of being a musician. He has been quoted in various publications on issues surrounding accounting, taxation and business management. His experience encompasses local performing artists to international recording acts. Current clients include, Ron Sexsmith, Our Lady Peace, Chantal Kreviazuk and illScarlett.



Tim Cattani is a Winnipeg based Charted Accountant with Bulat & Poustie who works with several musicians and arts organizations. He has presented several workshops on tax and accounting issues for musicians at Western Canadian Music Week.
