Andrew Littleford Quintet

About

Andrew is an active member of the Winnipeg music scene and is gaining attention and recognition across Canada as an accomplished multi-genre trumpet performer and educator. He shares his warm, lyrical sound and melodic tendencies within the musical genres of jazz, funk, R&B and pop music.

Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Andrew moved to Winnipeg, MB in 2010 after completing his Bachelor Degree in Jazz Performance from Brandon University, and Master’s Degree in Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA. His diverse musical abilities makes him one of the most sought after trumpet players on Winnipeg's vibrant music scene.  Aside from leading the Andrew Littleford Quintet where he composes and plays his own music, he is a founding member of the Dirty Catfish Brass Band, and is also involved with the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra, Ron Paley Big Band, Hot & Dirty Dance Party, Winnipeg Jazz Collective, “B’” Side Champs, PRZM, Sunny Roseland, and can be heard on a variety of albums with other Manitoba artists.

His debut full length album release “Far As The Eye Can See”, was self-released on October 23, 2022, and features original jazz compositions composed and arranged by Andrew.  This collection of songs are a representation of Andrew’s musical experience living in both Boston MA, where he spent 2 years completing a Masters degree from the New England Conservatory of Music, and Winnipeg MB, where he has steadily built a career as an active jazz musician and prominent contributor on the Winnipeg music scene.  These songs are inspired by the beauty that each of these landscapes offer, along with the generous nature of the musicians that inhabit them. The group includes some of the best jazz musicians in Manitoba who are also long time friends and musical collaborators from many other musical configurations, which creates a comfort level and connection within the music that usually takes other bands years to develop.   

He is grateful to be have been given opportunities to share the bandstand with a diverse group of world class improvising artists including: Tommy Banks, Bob Brookmeyer, Don Byron, Michael Cain, Galactic, George Culligan, Derrek Gardner, Vincent Gardner, Mark Gross, Mike Herriot, Giorgio Magnanensi, Rob McConnell, Tiger Okoshi, Sam Rivers, Jovino Santos Neto, Sloan, Byron Stripling, Brad Turner, Kenny Washington, and Bijon Watson.
