Katrina Van Humbeck is a Winnipeg-based Singer/Songwriter/Music & Theatre Performance Educator. She was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, although she was born in Czechoslovakia, now known as Slovakia, and immigrated to Canada as an infant. This Album, BLUE & BEYOND, is Katrina’s debut album comprised of originals. It was created primarily in the JAZZ vain, as it contains ballads, features instrumental solos, and is thematically JAZZ. Katrina may be viewed as a “Cross Over” Artist, as she infuses her music with her full classical voice, and unmistakable Musical Theatre influences.

Katrina possesses a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Theatre and Music Performance from the University of Winnipeg, and a Bachelor of Education, majoring in Theatre and Music from the University of Manitoba. She has taught Music and Drama at all levels, from Pre-School up to Grade 12, has conducted numerous successful Concert Choirs, and Vocal Jazz Ensembles. During the past two decades of teaching in both public and private schools, she has been passionate about inspiring and igniting in her students a love and appreciation for the Performing Arts.

Katrina’s performing experience and background started during her Jr./Sr. High School days. She performed leading roles in her school productions, sang in all the choral ensembles, and enjoyed numerous solo singing opportunities. Strongly Rooted in her church, Katrina was a member of various choirs and eventually became one of the frequently used soloists during Sunday services. She was also a chorister, televised soloist, and dramatist in high profile productions during Christmas and Easter, such as George Frederick Handel’s, Oratorio, MESSIAH, CS Lewis’s VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER and THE VICTOR, a local production. Her classical vocal training led to numerous years of performing in the Winnipeg Music Festival, taking part in The Little Opera Company, Opera Manitoba and various community choirs.

Katrina is currently finding musical fulfilment in her newfound love of songwriting, and singing and performing at the piano. She is specifically interested in conquering the challenges of learning JAZZ piano. She hopes to gain many performance opportunities, through the launching of her debut album.

Katrina resides in Winnipeg, Manitoba with her husband, Marc, and their three sons, who, like their Mom, are also aspiring musicians!
