About

Janina Fialkowska returns to the Virtuosi stage as “one of the Grandes Dames of piano playing (Frankfurter Allgemeine). She was made an Officer of the Order of Canada and was bestowed the Governor General’s 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award in Classical Music. She has played with the foremost orchestras worldwide and her discography includes the BBC Music Magazine’s 2013 “Instrumental CD of the Year” award. She is a “born Chopin interpreter” said Arthur Rubinstein, after she won his inaugural International Chopin Competition in 1974, and he remained her close friend and mentor for the rest of his life.
