About

The Park Theatre is proud to present Northlane and Intervals, with guests Invent, Animate, on Saturday, July 22nd, 2017.

Northlane // Named after a song by fellow metalcore band Architects, Northlane took shape in 2009 in the members' native Australia. Formed in Greater Western Sydney suburb Blacktown, Northlane quickly developed material and made their recorded debut in 2010 with a six-track EP titled Hollow Existence. They played throughout the country in support of the release and established a reputation as a tireless live act. Once Northlane signed with the Melbourne-based, Warner-distributed We Are Unified label, they put together their first album, Discoveries, and released it in 2011. A modest commercial success, it reached number 85 on the ARIA chart. Despite steady touring, the band followed Discoveries in 2013 with Singularity, produced by Will Putney, whose most prominent credits at that point were on Four Year Strong's Enemy of the World (as an engineer) and the Amity Affliction's Chasing Ghosts (which he mixed and mastered). The set peaked at number three on the ARIA chart. In 2014, after additional tours and festival appearances, founding vocalist Adrian Fitipaldes left the band, which left guitarists John Deiley and Josh Smith as the remaining original members. Marcus Bridge was inserted as the new frontman, and the band released its first single with him, "Rot," by the end of the year. Node, Northlane's third album, was released in 2016. It topped the ARIA chart and subsequently won the ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album.

Intervals are a Canadian/American progressive metal band. Intervals originally started as a creative outlet for guitarist Aaron Marshall in 2011 after the demise of his previous band; he wrote, recorded and programmed all the instruments for the debut EP "The Space Between".

After the release of "The Space Between", Aaron recruited 3 more members and made Intervals into an instrumental band. The band toured extensively and recorded a follow up EP, "In Time", in 2012.

In 2013, Intervals announced that they would now no longer be an instrumental band; their bassist Mike Semesky would switch to being the band's vocalist. Their debut album and first release with vocals, "A Voice Within", was released in 2013. On November 25, 2014, it was announced that Mike Semesky had left the band. An instrumental version of A Voice Within was released on Bandcamp on March 3, 2015.

On June 23, 2015, Lukas (guitar) and Anup (drums) announced on Facebook that they are no longer a part of Intervals. This separation was caused by different expectations about the future of Intervals. At this point Aaron was the only member of the band, but the next album featured Cameron McLellan (Protest The Hero) on bass guitar, and Travis Orbin (Darkest Hour, Periphery, Sky Eats Airplane) on drums. The instrumental album 'The Shape of Colour' was been released December 4, 2015.
