In collaboration with First Fridays in the Exchange, Spur explores the ways in which "art is risk made visible" with four performances from Spur Winnipeg's Canada150 artists-in-residence on the rooftop of the McKim Building. The evening's performances will be paired with samples from local entrepreneurs, no strangers to risk themselves, who will treat guests to the latest local fare in craft beer and spirits.

FEATURING:

Cisha is an 18-year old singer/songwriter who started singing at the age of 9 but only created here solo career at the age of 18. Being inspired by artists from her African roots to the moderne RnB , Hip-Hop and Soul. Cisha remains in the same atmosphere of inspiration but still still beingexposed to what is new and good for the growth of her solo career.

Storm Aneconeb is a young, emerging visual artist from Lac Suel, FN. She has participated in murals and mural mentorship programs, learning to adapt her skills to paint in diverse mediums on a range of surfaces. Thus, allowing her to create art and work on public displays around the city from walls to light boxes. Many of her pieces reflect her First Nations background and the influences of her daily life in the city. Eager to learn, Storm is set to peruse an education in fine arts this fall.

GeNie is a freestyle battle Dancer from Montreal, Quebec. He has been training in the field of Hip-Hop and street for over a decade, teaching, choreographing and directing at a professional level over the last 8 years. GeNie is the head of Hip Hop dance crew B.O.S.S Dance Team (Built on Self Success). He is also the co-creator of a non-profit Charity Dance Showcase Dance 4 MS which began in 2009. Recently, Eugene was selected by the National Ballet school in Toronto as 1 of 4 Canadian choreographers to create this year’s “Sharing Dance” flash mob routine for Canada’s upcoming 150th anniversary. Honoured by the city of Winnipeg with the Youth Role Model Award in 2009, GeNie is a committed teacher/choreographer never forgetting that he remains a student of dance.

Lise McMillan is an independent dance artist based in Manitoba. Lise has performed in Canada and abroad with Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers (2007-2014) in works by Sasha Ivanochko, Susie Burpee, Serge Bennathan, Brent Lott, and Rachel Browne. Independent work includes Sinha Danse, C. Medina Dance (Austria), Delfos Danza (Mexico) and independent creators Johanna Riley, Alex Elliott, Treasure Waddell, Natasha Torres-Garner and Tanja Woloshen. Lise is the co-director of TheDancePost, an organization serving Winnipeg’s dance milieu. Lise holds her B.A Honours Degree in Dance, and is a graduate of the Professional Program of The School of Contemporary Dancers.
