Originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Garret Friesen developed a strong connection with electronic
music at a very young age. introduced by his sibling at just 14 years old, he was instantly drawn to the
sounds of house and techno. He increasingly became interested in collecting records, spending countless
hours crate digging at local vinyl shops. naturally the next step was to find an outlet for his passion for music
Music production | DJ | Audio engineering. - J.A DJ was born.

Garret relocated to Vancouver where he has successfully completed the Audio Engineering program at one
on the most prestigious private post secondary educational facilities in North America ,with a degree in Audio Engineering | Music Production | Sound Design | Recording Arts.
During his years of study, he was the head of operations of a very successful residency in East Vancouver called VIBE. 
As he was no stranger to promoting events and having residencies all over Canada, He built a concept for the night to give the greater Vancouver Area a platform to express their passions and showcase personal Work. It was a chance to network collaborate and connect.
His leadership and passion are a key component to the growth of the musical community and dance music culture, legacy of a true pioneer ”. 

2011 was a paramount year for garret. interfaced with best friend and close musical associate Adam
“digaboo” Bradley, the duo founded famous Canadian label Truespin records. The organization has signed
and released over 100 artists from around the world. Garret has not only made himself a staple performer in
Canadian dance music - He has experienced all types music internationally in countless countries including the U.S.A ,Thailand ,Myanmar, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Jamaica, and Singapore and played alongside some of the worlds most reputable artists.

A 16 year dj veteran and 6 years of music production/recording J.A.DJ has accepted positions with many organizations and festivals including Fozzy Fest Music and Arts Festival, Connect Music Festival, Burning Van also a head member of Soma Sound Systems and Good Life Promotions.
With countless festivals confirmed each summer and mass numbers of releases due out this spring, 2016 is
looking to be a very significant year for J.A DJ
