About

The Back 40 Folk Festival is teaming up with Garden Valley Collegiate and the Manitoba Arts Network to provide a free songwriters workshop for local youth. The workshop will be led by Juno-winner Joey Landreth, and will take place during the school day on October 24th, targeting 14-21 year-olds in the Morden-Winkler region.

Landreth, who headlined both at the Winnipeg Folk Fest and the Back 40 Festival this summer, will also share his incredibly smooth vocals and dynamic guitar tones with the broader community that same evening, with a free concert in the GVC Zone starting at 7:30 pm.

Fans of Landreth, and his band The Landreth Brothers, describe his music as a coming together of folk, country-gospel, and blues—drawing comparisons with the likes of John Mayer, Ray LaMontagne, and Van Morrison.

To register for the songwriters’ workshop or for more information about the evening concert, contact Back 40 event planner Donovan Giesbrecht at donovan.giesbrecht@gvsd.ca.

The evening performance is free to everyone.
