Ivory Waves' relaxing but energetic dream-funk sounds as if D'Angelo was born in South Winnipeg and spent far too much time on the internet. Brett Ticzon's soulful vocals float over Jason Aniceto's vicegrip-tight drumming and Jesse Scanlon's elastic bass grooves, while the chiming and charming guitar licks supplied by Brett and lead guitarist Justin Billows interlock to round out their uniquely smooth sound. For fans of R Kelly, Homeshake and good times these young city kids are making some groovy tunes.
