pring has finally sprung in West Central and we’re gearing up for the 19th Annual Ellice Street Festival! Come out and celebrate our community here on Treaty 1 Territory, Original Lands of Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples and Homeland of the Metis Nation on June 8th and 9th with the West End Cultural Centre and friends! 

We’ll be kicking off the event on Friday, June 8th with a Sunshine House Spectacular featuring a performance by JD and the Sunshine Band and Drag Queen Bingo!!!

On Saturday, June 9th, we’ll be enjoying the weather and each other’s company outside from 12:00PM to 4:00PM on Ellice Avenue between Sherbrook and Langside Streets. We are thrilled to announce our eclectic outdoor music lineup of Francophone children's performer Madame Diva, charismatic anti-rock trio Trampoline, Indigenous Music Award nominees The Deeds with their soulful roots-rock, and grunge/alt-rock quartet Silence Kit, with hoop dancing by the phenomenal Shanley Spence! These local acts will provide a soundtrack for all ages for the afternoon which also includes craft making, face painting, a kids play area with bouncy castles, a carnival with prizes, roving clown Su Proctor, an artisans market where community residents will showcase their wares, community tables, a BBQ, and more!

Consider this your cordial invitation to join in the fun and celebration of our community! We’re so looking forward to this unofficial kickoff to summer and the chance to relax outdoors and enjoy our neighbours’ company. Volunteers are always welcome!
