About

Jazzy B has graced the stage around the world including countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, and North America. He has been featured in publications such as the BBC, CBC, Houston Chronicle, New York Times, PTC Punjabi, Times of India, Vancouver Sun, and Zee News. Jazzy B also has the prestigious honour of being the first Canadian of South Asian descent to be inducted into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2016. Throughout Jazzy B’s career on many occasions especially early on he has been asked by the media why he has such a passion for Punjabi folk and bhangra music despite having a sense of fashion that did not fit the typical desi mould. Jazzy B’s response has been consistent, he wanted the young kids that look up to him, to love and embrace their Punjabi culture through his music. He said he grew up like any Canadian kid playing and watching hockey, basketball, soccer, and football with his friends. To this day, Jazzy B goes back to Surrey and plays street hockey with his family and friends. Like many of the kids growing up in Canada wearing traditional Indian clothing was not what they did but that should not mean that they cannot love their Punjab roots. Dubbed by The New York Times as the “Michael Jackson of India,” Jazzy B has had a lasting impact on his fans through the 1990’s and 2000’s which will help his music live on forever.
