The second annual Culture Days celebration is about to take over Manitoba for a weekend of events, September 30 - October 2. To get in on the party, Manitoba Music has teamed up with the Songwriters Association of Canada and Culture Days Manitoba for a unique workshop for songwriters on September 30. WritersConnect: A Guided Introduction to Co-Writing offers the public a free, behind-the-scenes look at collaborative songwriting, featuring acclaimed mentors Chris Burke-Gaffney, Keith MacPherson, and Jaylene Johnson. All three will also play a concert at The Forks on October 1. For a sneak preview of the festivities, we're featuring the title track off Johnson's latest album, Happiness, as our free download this week. Johnson recently landed a Western Canadian Music Award nod for Happiness and the song made its way into hit TV show, Degrassi: The Next Generation. Johnson will head to Winkler for Manitoba Contact on October 14 and then up to Whitehorse to showcase at BreakOut West on October 21 and 22.
