From the album Pieces of Me
Featured track, available from June 7 to June 13
The days leading up to the hometown release party for Flo's sophomore album, Pieces of Me, have certainly be busy for the R&B singer. She landed a nod for Urban Recording of the Year from Western Canadian Music Awards, hit the stage at the Winnipeg Free Press News Cafe, did an interview with CBC Scene, and can be found on the cover of this week's Uptown. Produced by Arun Chaturvedi, the album features 14 tracks, including the upbeat anti-bullying anthem "Hateless", which is our featured download this week. No doubt you'll be hearing a lot more from the singer, who opened for Lauryn Hill last year at the Concert Hall. Local audiences can catch Flo on the West End Cultural Centre's stage on June 9 with guests Noma, Those Guys featuring M-Kaps, and The Xanad00ds featuring Ismaila. She'll also help kick off this year's Winnipeg International Jazz Festival with a free performance on The Cube's outdoor stage on June 14. Grab the song, pick up an Uptown, stay tuned for WCMA news this September, and don't miss Flo live.
Every week, Manitoba Music offers free a downloadable music track by a great local artist. Available for a limited time from Thursday to Thursday, be sure to grab these songs while you can... and to check back for more!
