Manitoba Chamber Orchestra
"Allegro vivace from Divertimento for Strings by Gareth Walters"

From the album Sea Sketches

Featured track, available from August 23 to August 30

The Manitoba Chamber Orchestra has a busy few days ahead with not one but two back-to-back concerts. The innovative and acclaimed orchestra will celebrate its 40th birthday with two free outdoor evening concerts: August 23 at The Lyric Theatre in Assiniboine Park and August 24 at The Forks Under the Canopy (7pm showtime). Both concerts will feature Canadian soprano sensation Isabel Bayrakdarian, who has worked with the MCO several times in the last few years (and performed on the soundtrack of a little movie called The Lord of the Rings). Bayrakdarian will stay in Winnipeg to record a new album with the MCO of music written and arranged by Serouj Kradjian, inspired by the trobairitz, European female troubadours of the 12th and 13th centuries. She'll also perform at the opening concert of the MCO's 40th season on September 12. We have the MCO's recording of "Allegro vivace from Divertimento for Strings by Gaerth Walters" off Sea Sketches as this week's featured track. Download it for free, read more about the MCO's upcoming programming, and don't miss the chance to see the MCO kick off four decades of stellar music.
