The Mariachi Ghost
"Cempazuchitl (Marigold)"

From the album The Mariachi Ghost

Featured track, available from July 24 to August 1

The Mariachi Ghost is having one busy summer. The acclaimed outfit -- which blends Mexican folk with prog rock and a bit of jazz -- is gearing up for a big handful of music fest performances and summer series during this Year of Music, including Brandon Folk, Music & Art Festival (July 26), Twin Bills Part I at the Park Theatre (July 31), the 125th Icelandic Festival of Manitoba in Gimli (August 3), Manitoba Music Live at The Cube (August 8), and Rainbow Trout Music Festival near St.Malo (August 15-17). Presumably, the band may take a short nap before gearing up for a coveted showcase spot at the 2014 BreakOut West Festival, which will take over Winnipeg for two nights of stellar live music October 3-4. Then, again, maybe not... The Mariachi Ghost, which landed a Western Canadian Music Award nod for World Recording of the Year, is bound to have a few things in the works. You have plenty of chances to catch the band live in various Manitoba locales... download our free Manitoba Live app and add the shows to your calendar. Meanwhile, download The Mariachi Ghost's tune "Cempazuchitl (Marigold)" (which was recently featured on NPR's Alt.Latino show).
