The Reverend Rambler
"Get Down"

From the album The Reverend Rambler

Featured track, available from July 9 to July 17

The weather is perfect to take in some live music in sunshine this weekend as the Winnipeg Folk Festival kicks off its annual celebration of music and people at Birds Hill Park. There are plenty of chances to take in some homegrown talent on the hallowed stages throughout the fest's run, July 9-12. Manitoba acts hitting Main Stage and the daytime workshops stages this year include The Reverend RamblerLeonard Sumner, LuLu and the TomCatThe Mariachi Ghost, Royal Canoe, Slow Leaves, Seanster and the Monsters, and expat Brandy Zdan. Many of those will take over Big Bluestem for the annual all-local spotlight workshop, dubbed "Manitoba, That's My Home", on June 12 at 3PM. To get you in the Folk Fest mood, we've got the bombastic blues of The Reverend Rambler... his tune "Get Down" is our featured download this week. You've got a few opportunities to catch him live at Folk Fest this weekend and can also look for him at Shine On, Harvest Sun Festival, and Harvest Moon Festival over the next couple of months. Stay tuned for his sophomore full-length album. In the meantime, get his tune and get down to the Winnipeg Folk Festival.
