Raine Hamilton
"Everything"

From the album Past Your Past

Featured track, available from July 28 to August 5

There's plenty of live music to soak up across Manitoba this August long weekend. Among the festivities is the Icelandic Festival of Manitoba, which takes over Gimli for the 127th time, bringing with it a celebration of Icelandic culture and three days of live local music. Over a dozen Manitoba acts are set to hit the free stages, where audiences can take in folk and roots, indie pop, hip hop, jazz, rock, and more. One of the artists taking centre stage is singer/songwriter Raine Hamilton. Fresh from a loop of northern BC -- including a headlining spot at the Kispiox Festival -- Hamilton plays the Gimli Alternative Folk Festival on July 31, alongside Sweet Alibi, Joey Landreth Trio, Kristopher Ulrich, Begonia, and The Chuck Copenace Group. Next up, Hamilton will head to Ontario's Red Rock Fest and Trout Forest Music Festival, the Shine On Festival in Manitoba's Sandilands Forest, plus Home Routes and a western tour in March. This fall, she'll also do some official showcasing at Contact East in New Brunswick and Folk Music Ontario in Ottawa. Hamilton will also keep busy with workshops in schools on songwriting and fiddle tune writing, including work with Artists in the Schools and Winnipeg One's Engaging Fusion. Music fans can look forward to Hamilton's sophomore album in the future; she'll be recording with acclaimed producer/engineer Lloyd Peterson this winter. In the meantime, we've got her tune "Everything" off her full-length debut, Past Your Past, as this week's featured tune. Get it and get out and see Raine Hamilton live on stage.
