Flat Land Soul Band

Funk Jazz R&B Soul

Flat Land Soul Band

About

"a nine-piece horn-heavy group that belts out R&B, soul, and funk tunes" - The Winnipeg Free Press

“a group with a passion for the smooth grooves of 60s and 70s era funk, soul, and R&B, and a clear desire to make something new." - Stylus Magazine

The Flat Land Soul Band is a 9 piece collective of university trained jazz musicians with a goal of reviving the classic feel of 60’s and 70’s soul, funk, and R&B. Starting out as a successful cover band (performing for the Winnipeg Jazz Festival in 2017 as their second show ever), FLSB has recently made the transition to release original material. Inspired by the Motown greats, influenced by years of training in jazz harmony, and set on making sure their sound stands up in the modern era, the Flat Land Soul Band has created a fusion like no other. “Middle of Somewhere” is rekindling and redefining the sound of Manitoba.
