Ever since a brief romance with songwriting in his teen years, artist Isaac Walker has always had the inch to put pencil to paper and lyrics to music in the back of his mind. Although suppressed by perfectionism, self-doubt, taking time to travel and attempt a university degree, this itch had slowly grown nonetheless. Encouraged by his love of Canadian artists such as Andy Shauf and John K. Samson, Isaac Walker once again attempted songwriting after recent, major life transitions had left him with an abundance of emotional fodder.
Surprised by a busy month of writing via self-reflection Walker had collected a handful of songs which he soon released as his debut EP Porch Sessions, Vol. 1. Aptly named due to the fact that the songs had been written, rehearsed, recorded and mixed in the front porch of his South Osborne home. A release concerted promptly followed as Walker was eager to celebrate his recent accomplishment with friends and family. This was held under string lights on a small stage set up in his backyard.
Not wanting to waste any time or spend it doing anything else, Isaac Walker soon had enough new material to start recording a full-length album. With Adam Fuhr, lead singer of Winnipeg band Yes We Mystic on board as producer, Walker has managed to expand his sonic profile while staying true to the singer-songwriter roots. The album is set to release in the spring of 2020.
Walkers music experiments in different genres from down-tempo singer-songwriter, to upbeat indie rock/pop. He attempts to use his writing as a tool to let others into his life experiences through the use of analogies, storytelling, intuitive melodies, and heartfelt opinions.
After the release of his debut Album, Walker plans on putting on a local release concert before heading on tour across Canada in the summer.
