About

The International Transgender Day of Visibility (often referred to as TDOV or Trans Day of Visibility) is an annual event occurring on March 31 dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide, as well as a celebration of their contributions to society.

In our celebration, we will be showcasing performers who identify as trans, non binary and/or two spirited on stage as well as set up two tv screens to display bios and creative works of folx who are gender diverse. There will be a silent auction and proceeds from the event will go toward the Westman Empowerment Fund.

The Westman Empowerment Fund was created to assist individuals who identify as transgender, non binary or two-spirited in their transition journey by targeting financial barriers to their transition-related care. This may include, but not limited to, the following: assistance with needed transition procedures, transportation costs to and from their residence if they live rurally (for procedures or services in Brandon or Winnipeg), assistance with procedures not covered by Manitoba Health (such as electrolysis), assistance with accessories and prosthetics (hair pieces, gaffs, STP devices, binders, breast forms, etc.), etc. and financial assistance with costs that will be reimbursed by a government or service agency at a later date (such as flight costs) The Empowerment Fund is proposed to be a not for profit entity who will regularly review applications from individuals who are seeking financial assistance for transition related costs. Funds will be generated by donations and fund-raising events and partnerships, as well as financial advancements if the individual will be receiving reimbursement.
