BANDS VS FILMMAKERS 4 is a fantastic evening of ALL NEW FILM PREMIERES by five new independent Winnipeg filmmakers accompanied by the performances of five great Winnipeg bands. Each filmmaker creates 20 minutes of new work (with no restrictions on their creativity) and is paired with a band to work together – the films are premiered silently as each band plays to the imagery of the films created by the filmmaker they are paired with.

Featuring some of Winnipeg’s finest emerging filmmakers and musicians:

Matheu Plouffe (a Film Studies major whose amazing super 8 works stand out in every film program he has ever been in) creating work for the driving music of Les Jupes with its roots in British post-punk and American folk;

Madison Thomas (an emerging Metis filmmaker who studied in Prague and has already created her first post-apocalyptic feature) working with singer songwriter Ridley Bent whose style incorporates country, rock and hip hop influences best described as “hick hop,”;

Damien Ferland, a graduate of the University of Winnipeg's Film/Theatre program who has produced over a dozen short films and music videos, working with BIRDAPRES and GREY JAY (which includes Andy Rudolph from Mahogany Frog);

Kayla Jeanson, a new filmmaker whose fabulous films blur the lines between genres) working with the 3 piece indie/electronic groupHANA LU LU (influenced by New Order and the Cure);

Tyler Funk who enjoys telling stories with images working with Mise en Scene - rock/blues duo Stefanie Blondal Johnson (guitar/vocals) and Jodi Dunlop (drums).

A silent auction of fabulous prizes will be included featured in a draw at the end –everything from prize packages at some of Winnipeg’s finest arts groups to fabulous DVD cult classics and more!
