About

Odder than the Otters are proud to release their debut six-song EP, The Port of Lopez, on Thursday, April 5 at The Good Will - Social Club.

Kicking off the night are two new, extremely talented local acts...

Two Crows For Comfort: A folk-roots duo spinning stories into songs and songs into stories, filled with rich harmonies and genuine, heart warming (and breaking) lyrics.

The Bloody Historians: A rockn'roll band embracing the style and attitude of the greats, while maintaining simple pop sensibility in their songwriting, accompanied by reverb-drenched guitar lines and emotionally driven vocals.

About “The Port of Lopez”

Recorded and mixed in 2017 at Paintbox Recording in Winnipeg with Lloyd Peterson (The Weakerthans, The Wailin' Jennys, Big Dave McLean) and mastered by Jamie Sitar at Outta Town Sound (Bif Naked, Randy Bachman, Chilliwack, Swollen Members, Classified), the majority of songs on the album were penned by Otters’ Cody Goertzen and Adam Hill in the coastal South American town of Puerto Lopez, Ecuador in the winter of 2016. The musical personnel on the EP include Cody Goertzen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Adam Hill (drums), Joe Johnson (lead guitar), Mitch Kruse (bass), Lloyd Peterson (organ) Steve Tapley (percussion) and Morgan Emms(backing vocals).

The Otters’ first single, “Hola Luna,” will officially be released on Wednesday, March 14, with a music video soon to follow. “Hola Luna” recently made “top 50 finalist as judged by CBC Music producers,” selected from thousands of entries in the CBC Searchlight 2018 competition.
