About

GRYPHON TRIO
Annalee Patipatanakoon, violin
Roman Borys, cello
James Parker, piano

After a quarter century, Canada’s Gryphon Trio has become one of the world’s pre-eminent ensembles. They are “Exquisite… the ensemble and tonal control can be almost breathtaking.” (BBC Magazine) The Trio tours regularly throughout North America and Europe, and their 18 recordings are an encyclopedia of works for the genre, with over 75 new works commissioned for them. Honours include two Juno Awards for Classical Album of the Year, and the Canada Council’s prestigious 2013 Walter Carsen Prize for Excellence in the Performing Arts. The Gryphons are at the core in designing Ottawa’s annual Chamberfest. Their Virtuosi program includes the gorgeous “Love Triangle” by Dinuk Wijeratne, who was hailed by the New York Times as “exuberantly creative”.
