About

NOTE: Date Change! - It was pointed out by numerous frustrated music fans that our original date conflicted with the Winnipeg live debut of They Might Be Giants at the Garrick Theatre. And since TMBG's John Flansburgh covered Amy's "Mod Housewife" number, Don't Break the Heart, on his 1996 album (under the name Mono Puff) "Unsupervised", we figured the least we could do was push the show back to the day AFTER the TMBG show. Tell John he's guest listed. (Sorry, John Linnell - you hafta pay.) * * *

Can it really be FIVE years since the StuDome hosted two sold out shows featuring the dynamic duo of Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby? Yes, and while Winnipeg did get a return visit from Mr. Goulden a couple years back, that is far too long to go without the true gem of that combo. so we are BEYOND thrilled to welcome back, for an entire evening all on her own - Amy Rigby!

Amy Rigby is an icon. For those of us who have been hip to her music for the last few decades, this is obvious, and for those who will hear her for the first time when they pick up her new solo record, The Old Guys (her first in a dozen years), it will be evident right away. On the album’s masterpiece title track, Rigby sings of the “old guys” who’ve “made a past for the young ones to learn from”. And though she’s referring to a generation of artists that came before her, there must be a slew of young rockers and songwriters out there who count Rigby as an influence, too. Her smart, thoughtful songwriting has been knocking the wind out of listeners since she first came on the scene as a solo artist with her 1996 debut Diary of a Mod Housewife. And though she may be more than 20 years wiser now, that same cheeky, humorous world view we came to know and love still permeates her words.

Admission for this very special night is $25 with all proceeds going to the artist. Advance tickets are available from Stu directly, eith at The StuDome (call before coming) or at the McNally Robinson Booksellers music desk (Tuesday thru Saturday).

We're hoping to confirm an exciting opening act for the show soon too - stay tuned!

As always, StuDome shows are BYOB affairs with free snacks and sodas provided. Bringing snacks to share is always appreciatted too.
