About
The West End Cultural Centre presents The Deep Dark Woods with Kacy & Clayton!
“For years, haunting ballads and rousing stompers that sound like they’ve been pulled from the darkest depths of history have been the bread and butter for Saskatchewan quintet Deep Dark Woods.”
– Vice Noisey
“often compared to other Canadian artists like The Band, Gordon Lightfoot and Neil Young, The Deep Dark Woods have worked hard to create a loose, grungy folk sound that—for all its references to the past—is increasingly their own.”
– Paste
“…an invigorating new restoration that finds them sounding more patient, intricate and contemplative than they’ve ever been… a single listen is enough to create a spellbinding experience. 9/10”
– Exclaim!
Produced by Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and recorded at the band’s Chicago studio (The Loft), by Tom Schick, The Siren’s Song follows Kacy & Clayton’s 2016 record Strange Country. It's the first album on which Anderson and duo partner Clayton Linthicum — second cousins who grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada — have incorporated electric full-band arrangements; they’re joined for the project by drummer / percussionist Mike Silverman and bassist Andy Beisel.
