About

NONET DONUM is a vocal ensemble based in Varaždin (Croatia) formed of nine young singers under artistic leadership of maestro Višeslav Jaklin, titular organist of the Varaždin Cathedral. The ensemble was founded in 2011 and has since performed numerous concerts, both in Croatia and abroad.

Nonet Donum is primarily focused on sacred music with special interest in early musical periods (renaissance and early-baroque), they also perform works from later periods and contemporary classical music as well. So far, Nonet has performed pieces by many significant composers such as G. P. da Palestrina, T. L. de Victoria, W. Byrd, G. Allegri, J. S. Bach, G. F. Handel, W. A. Mozart, J. Haydn, Z. Kodaly, S. Barber and O. Gjeilo. In their performances, Nonet also tries to include works by Croatian composers – I. Lukačić, A. Klobučar, D. Bobić and many others.

Among the many concerts performed by Nonet Donum, it is noteworthy to mention the traditional lenten concerts in the Varaždin Cathedral and successful cooperation with the Varaždin baroque evenings (oldest european festival dedicated to baroque music). In 2014 and 2015 Nonet also participated in the performance of J. S. Bach's Christmas-Oratorio, which was the first-ever performance of that capital piece of musical heritage in Varaždin.

Since its foundation, Nonet Donum has enjoyed great support from the Diocese of Varaždin.
