About
A Rebel Named Riel is a Canadian folk band that took its first breath in Thompson Manitoba in 2015. Since then they have played various settings such as coffee shops, house shows and arenas across the country. Their unique style of storytelling incorporates culture, a strong sense of family values as well as their love for Manitoba and the prairies. The name was deliberately chosen to represent Metis culture and the importance of Louis Riel to the creation of Manitoba. Louis Riel once said “our people will sleep for 100 years but it will be the artists that give them their spirit back” which holds true to A Rebel Named Riel.
