About
The Vital hit the stage with Malcolm-Jay, and it's the return of Kato Destroy!
The Vital:"...bursts with post-punk ferocity" Ride The Tempo
With influences from post punk, noise rock and alternative, The Vital released their self-titled debut EP in 2016, garnering press and accolades from the likes of Ride The Tempo and The Scene Magazine. Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Vital have found a pocket for themselves in the city's burgeoning new wave of modern alternative bands.
Malcolm-Jay: Toronto born and Winnipeg raised, Malcolm-Jay (born Malcolm-Jamal Tesoro Wilson) is a producer and emcee who humbly adds an introspective element to traditional hip hop culture. Formerly a member of hip hop group The Happy Unfortunate, Malcolm-Jay is holding nothing back with the release of his first solo effort, the self-reflective EP Missed Connections. Earlier this year, he released his first music video Always Know, fully baring his humble and poetic rap style to the world. Feel-good party scenes contrast Jay rapping in a shadow-filled studio in an ode to those who contributed to his success, causing the listener to sit in their own self-reflection.
Kato Destroy: KATO DESTROY is a gritty, straight-up rock band with styles ranging from chordy/pensive, absurd/raunchy, heavy/technical. A long set of originals and covers for all occasions (Talking Heads, Rush, QOTSA, Fugazi), their influences and abilities are diverse enough to land the band spots in funk/groove improv, and backing Winnipeg hip hop acts on the fly.
