About

We were so excited about our final Throwback Thursday performance for this 2018-2019 concert season, that we thought we’d announce it right away! We couldn’t be more thrilled to be presenting Acoustically Inclined on Saturday, May 4th!

General admission tickets are $30 in advance or pay $40 for a VIP ticket which includes a seat on the mezzanine and a glass of wine and are available on Thursday, January 17th at 10am!

Performing as a nameless rag-tag instrumental group (viola, mandolin, guitar, bass and eventually percussion and vocals) busking on the streets of Winnipeg in the 90’s, the band began to develop a following as an acid jazz, gypsy swing band with leaning towards folk and bluegrass. Their legendary “break” came from Winnipeg Folk Festival founder and then West End Cultural Centre Artistic Director, Mitch Podolak, who gave them a chance by pulling them off the streets and producing their first big show.

The band was paid and given promotion for a free show which then began a long love affair with Canadian folk and college circuits.

Acoustically Inclined, named after their infamous version of Hendrix Purple Haze rocked out with viola and mandolin solos, was signed by Oh Yah! Records in 1990, and began the recording process eventually releasing 3 albums.
Are You Inclined?, the first record, was well received, prompting performances at Winnipeg's West End Cultural Centre and the main stage of the Winnipeg Folk Festival.

Despite its relatively short history and having released only three albums, the band was included in an exhibit at the Manitoba Museum entitled "Get Back: A Celebration of Winnipeg Rock" from 1995-1996.

This year marks 30 years since the beginning of the A.I. adventure and though each member has gone on to make their own successful solo careers, they are flying home from various locations across the world to bring back the music that started their careers. This reuniting concert will not only be a magical recreation and in some case rearrangement of the songs fans came to love, but also a reunion of tribe and Winnipeg pride. This will be a musical party filling the West End Cultural Centre with hundreds of fans the band came to know as family.
