About Canada Day at The Forks

Thousands of people will be treated to performances from over a dozen homegrown acts, culminating in a dynamic onstage collaboration between JUNO Award-winners outfit Eagle & Hawk and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO). Fireworks will cap off the night at 11 p.m.

The main event at the CN Stage & Field kicks off with the alt pop soul sounds of Amadians at 7 p.m., followed by singer/songwriter Madeleine Roger and indie rock act Bullrider. To close out this year’s festivities, Eagle & Hawk will share their distinctive, high energy fusion of roots rock and Indigenous themes and imagery, joining the WSO to set the stage for a spectacular fireworks display.

The bustling hub at the Canopy Stage, right next to The Forks’ new patio, will feature a genre-spanning lineup of Manitoba acts including rock & soul act The Noble Thiefs, singer and hand drummer Darryl Buck, charismatic anti-rock trio Trampoline, roots/pop group Sweet Alibi, powerhouse country artist Kendra Kay, old-time country blues act Little Miss Higgins, hip hop artist Malcolm-Jay, groundbreaking rapper and First Nations community role model Hellnback, three-piece glam rock'n'roll group The Sorels, and intergalactic rock power trio Moon Tan. The site will also host acoustic pop-up shows from Indigenous twin fiddlers Double the Trouble and folk-roots duo Two Crows for Comfort.

The Exchange District BIZ will host a satellite stage at Stephen Juba Park, just a short distance from The Forks’ site, featuring performances from roots singer/songwriter Rhianna Rae Saj, songwriter/recording act JC Campbell, dark roots band Leaf Rapids, and rock singer/songwriter Liam Duncan.

Beyond the stellar musical line-up, folks can expect plenty of festivity at The Forks throughout the day, including: a pow wow and Founding Nations Tribal Village in Oodena Celebration Circle, Canada Life hosted activities, art activities, food trucks, lacrosse demonstrations, and a Lucky Girl Pop Up vendor market.

Revelers can gear up for the festivities by clicking over to the Manitoba Live streaming playlist at manitobamusic.com/canadaday, complete with music, video, band bios and more. Visitors can stream it from their desktops or take it for a walk on their mobile devices around The Forks.

With so many people flocking to The Forks for the festivities, people should plan their Canada Day transportation in advance. Bike Valet will be on-site offering free, secure bike and helmet storage all day, so you can plan to take the bus or park off-site and walk over.
