About
Tribute to Martin Luther King performed by Enfants du Père (Children of the Father), with special guest Rickson Makwe.
“ Once upon this planet earth lived a man of humble birth… ”
These are the first words of the song “Why (The King of Love is Dead)” sung by Nina Simone. She was describing Martin Luther King Jr., a great man whose humility never lead him away from his love for the human kind and the pursuit of respect for all.
At Sam’s Place on Sat., February 8th, local group Enfants du Père (in French for Children of the Father) will deliver mostly in English King’s message through a selection of songs from the 1950s/1960s civil rights movement as well as some of King’s favorites.
Special guest singer-songwriter-keyboardist Rickson Makwe will also perform a few of his compositions.
