American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation throughout

Live streamed via Zoom link, which will be shared in this event, on the Raine Hamilton facebook page, and to Raine’s email list

You are invited to this live-streamed concert, which is part of the #CanadaPerforms series presented by the National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts and other partners. For Manitobans, it is a lunch time broadcast that also fits nicely into morning or afternoon coffee break for west and east coasters.

Please come join me in the sunniest corner of my apartment, for an hour of music and stories, including 2 new songs!

1. An anthem of self-love that will appear on my next album
2. A soothing, harmonically predictable number (because enough surprises, already, world!) about pandemic life and its new sensations.

ASL Interpretation
The whole concert will be interpreted into American Sign Language (ASL). We are going to use Zoom to present both my performance, and the ASL interpretation, simultaneously, from remote locations. This is a socially distant pursuit, my friends! It has been fun working out the tech details. Huge thanks to my east coast pal Brendan Henry for helping us find our way.

You Can Expect
You can expect: a solo performance and stories, with a more personal touch. I love tea, and I have a collection I am proud of. In fact, I sell one of my favourite teas as a merch item on tour. Since I’ll be right in front of my tea shelf, I’ll do a tea show and tell of some of my favourites. Please feel free to steep your own cup, and tell me about it in the comments during the concert.

I have definitely found comfort in my array of teas. Another place I have turned is to my online knot-tying club! Knots help me understand holding on and letting go. By design they are full of tension, release, and impermanence. I think knots are genius. I have found great comfort in this practice, so I will also be sharing my favourite knots as part of the show. Please bring a piece of string or cord if you want to tie along.
