Songwriter/composer Phil Deschambault is a finalist in Standard Radios Canadian Radio Star competition. The competition is Canadas largest annual songwriting event for self- or non-published songwriters. Deschambaults song Mary the Inventory, performed by up-and-comer Ash Koley, is the regional finalist, picked by participating radio station Hot 103 and online public voting based on the creativity, originality, composition, lyrics, melody, and radio airplay potential of their songs. The finalists will perform at the Canadian Radio Star showcase, hosted by Haydain Neale, on March 9 in Toronto. You can vote for your favourite at www.radiostar.ca until tomorrow. As a finalist, Deschambault has won an all-expense paid trip to Canadian Music Week in Toronto as well as a plethora of other gear prizes. The big prize is $10,000 in cash, 30 hours of mixing and mastering time from METALWORKS, Canadas top recording studio; and some great pro recording gear among other things.
