On Tuesday, May 29th, 2007, independent recording artist Scott Hinkson meets visual artist and poet, Yuri Andrejowich for an evening of 'art music' at the JUST Art Showcase Series.

Scott Hinkson has been busy over the past couple years making a name for himself on the Manitoban and Canadian music scenes. In 2003, he released an instrumental soundtrack Music for the Short Film 'Man Alone' which drew critical success and established Hinkson as an artist with much on the horizon. "...a very austere, moving collection of pieces that takes the listener along the meandering return from a personal abyss." Stylus Magazine.

Since then, Scott has released his first solo album Tracking Outside In, which is receiving airplay on such stations as CHFQ Freq 107.1, CHIQ Q94.3, Cafe 100.7 FM, CJUM 101.5, CKUW 95.9 FM, CJGL 94.1 The Fox, CKMS 94.5 U of Waterloo (charted in February 2006), and CJUV Sunny 94.1 playing up to 20 to 30 spins per week. Most recently, he performed at New Music West 2007 in Vancouver and was featured in The Province, one of the city's leading newspapers.

Scott is currently working on his next album which will be "a darker, more subversive affair" dealing with internal struggles about death, perseverance, judgment and the concept of selling out. The release is set for later this year.

While Scott sings and plays guitar, local visual artist Yuri Andrejowich, will be interpreting the music he hears and will create a piece using vibrant pastel colours further engaging the audience and heightening their sensory experience.

Yuri has been involved in the art scene for the past 10 years, participating in the Artbeat Studio program where he experimented with different mediums, form and body. He had his first show in 2005 and was published in "illumination" Artbeat's Annual Volume 1 in 2006. During that time he did performance art with local improvisational jazz band Sonic Teabag and also produced an extensive collection of line art sketches which will be on display for the first time at the JUST Art Showcase Series.

On May 29th, these two talented artists will collaborate to bring you an eclectic presentation of sight and sound — up-close-and-personal — an interpretation of the human spirit.

The JUST ART Showcase Series is held the last Tuesday of every month at the Dandelion Eatery renowned for its creative presentations by acclaimed Chef Ben Kramer using organic and local ingredients.
