New Album Coming Soon

Just finished tracking the album, and I am happy to report it all went swimmingly, at least the parts I remember. Leanne drove up from Austin, and we spent the first couple days up at the beautiful Manitou Opera House in Manitou, Manitoba, recording some chamber music and choir with the Zacharias family (when I say family I mean the whole family - Leanne, her sister Cristina, brother-in-law Ed, and her mom and dad). The subsequent eight days were spent at Cam Loeppky and Shawn Dealy's studio, Prairie Recording Co. Barry Mirochnick flew in from Vancouver, Greg Smith from Toronto, Keith McLeod drove over in his new white Jeep from Rooster Town. John Samson has no guitar solos on this record, unfortunately, but he did sing and play producer a couple times, and Cam Loeppky and I switched places on the last day - he played some banjo and sang while I pressed record and yelled at him through the talk-back mic for a change. I've posted some photos at www.myspace.com/christinefellows

I'll be heading out east at the end of this month, down to NYC with The Weakerthans to play on a boat. We are driving down on a bus. Initially, when they told me we were going on a bus, I thought they meant the Greyhound, which is ok and all, don't get me wrong. But it turns out they meant the other kind.

Thank you to the Winnipeg Arts Council for awarding me a grant to make and arrange new repertoire this summer. Hey, and that sweet Ms. Burpee just informed me that the score I made for The Spinster's Almanac has been nominated for Dora Mavor Moore Award. Sweet!
