The Brandon Folk Music & Art Society is thrilled to announce the line-up for the 23rd annual Brandon Folk Music & Art Festival. Headlining this year's festival include Tagaq, The Plaid Tongued Devils, and the NuPhunk Orchestra. An Inuk throat singer who grew up in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, Tagaq has collaborated with the likes of Bjork and The Kronos Quartet and has won multiple Canadian Aboriginal Music awards. The Plaid Tongued Devils have been nominated for Prairie Music Awards on multiple occasions. This quintet weave a mixture of klezmer, gypsy, middle eastern influences with more common rock and jazz to create their uniquely distinct style. They've been described as 'Fiddler on the Roof' on steroids. The NuPhunk Orchestra is undoubtedly the most popular band playing in Brandon today. So popular in fact that after they played at last year's festival, there were more requests to bring them back than all other performers combined. All seven musicians bring an immense wealth of musicianship and instrumental ability to the stage with their mix of old-school funk and popular new tunes.

Other performers this year include The Fugitives (Vancouver), Romi Mayes (Winnipeg), Dan Frechette (Winnipeg), The Gruff (Vancouver), Sheena Grobb (Winnipeg), The Dusty Roads Band (Winnipeg), Serena Postal (Winnipeg), The Errant (Brandon), The Serena Eades Trio (Vancouver), Jan Ek (Brandon), David Hein (Toronto), The Doug & Jess Band (Winnipeg), Heather Blush (Calgary), Dale Willis (Australia), Francois Tremblay (Regina), Drek Daa (Winnipeg), Shayne avec i grec (Vancouver), Di Brandt (Brandon), Laurie Block (Brandon), and Dale Lakevold (Brandon).

Along with evening performances, there will be workshops all afternoon on the main stage, activities and entertainment each afternoon in the children's tent, an expansive 'Under the Canvas' area featuring displays by artisans and community groups and another creation by our artist-in-residence Colin Corneau.

Tickets for this year's festival are $40 ($35 in advance) for adult weekend passes, $20 for adult day passes, $25 for student/senior weekend passes, and $15 for student/senior day passes. Children under 12 get in for free. For the first time, camping passes are also available for onsite camping. Advanced tickets are available from Lady of the Lake, Ted Good Music, and Ten Thousand Villages in Brandon as well as at the festival entrance.
