Hi everyone! I hope youve been enjoying the summer. Ive been trying to slow it downto no avail. Life is busy but good.

I had a great co-writing trip to Toronto in July and was able to connect with some fantastic people there. Casablanca put on a showcase for me, and my friend and collaborator, Monica Schroeder, also played. A crew from World Vision came out to show support, which was really cool. I also had a gifted musician play guitar for me named Ryan Eligh.

Amy Sky recorded a demo of a song we wrote together the last time I was in TOIts called Love Knows. I was in the studio when she sang it and was blown away by her talent. I hope and pray that people will get to hear it at some point as its a very special song for meThen again, I really do like all of the songs. I wrote with Simon Wilcox and we came up with one that refuses to leave my headGood sign!

I was also able to connect with some familyWe even wrote a song together around a campfireVery fun! I love Toronto. I had a blast staying at a guest suite in my cousins condo building which is right downtownBut its nice to be home for a bit. In a couple of weeks Ill be heading to Nashville to do some more co-writing. In the meantime, Ive been able to write a few new tunes with Arun Chaturvedi and Chris Burke-Gaffney, but Ive also been trying to savour every last minute of sunshine, having a coffee at the little café table outside my door, seeing my familySummer is too short in my opinion.

For those in Winnipeg, Im playing an intimate little show on Friday, August 17th at the cozy Candor Books (390 Provencher Blvd) which promises new tunesThe first set starts at 8PM by Monica Schroeder, and then Im on right after her. The evening will end by 10PM, which is a time that makes both early-to-bedders and night-owls-with-other parties-to-be-at happy. The cost is $10 at the door.

Thats it for nowAs always, Im so grateful for your support, your prayers, your kind e-mails...Hopefully the new songs will land somewhere special before long.

Blessings,

Jaylene
