Bearded Brothers sport playoff look year round

Older brother Sean Clements (vocals/guitar) and his younger, though taller, brother Ian Clements (drums/percussion) are joined by bassist Ian Russell to make up Bearded Brothers. 

Growing up in Windsor Park, Sean Clements acknowledges the five year age difference between the brothers did lead to some fighting. "We'd fight about the most ridiculous things, like Ian copying my dance moves, or messing with my toys. You know, standard sibling squabbles," Clements explains.
 

When the brothers were growing up, there was always music in the house. Their mom favoured '80s or country stations, while their dad had his pick from a huge record collection of CDs, cassette tapes and vinyl. 

"He liked lots of blues, jazz fusion, singer/songwriter stuff from the '60s and '70s," Clements says. "We recall lots of Steely Dan and Doobie Brothers being played. It was all background noise to me though, I never really connected with any of it until my 20s."

Once they had grown out of the quarreling stage, the Clements boys started playing together at their parents' place when they went back to visit.

"We never really jammed that much growing up, so it was surprising for us to find that we still had a musical chemistry together. Some of our favourite groups had sibling duos at the core of them too, such as Pantera, No Means No and the Avett Brothers, so we wanted to see what we could come up with together. It sounded like it'd be fun," Clements says. 

As for sporting the playoff look year round? Clements says even if one of the band members decided to go for a clean shave one day, it probably wouldn't break them up. 
 
"It would warrant a name change though. The beards are part of the commitment to band, so I guess you could say they symbolize our dedication to the project."
