Popular Winnipeg family entertainer, Fred Penner, will be adding another award to the vast collection that he has amassed over the years. Penners latest CD, Sing with Fred, received a 2002 Parents Choice Award last week. Many entries were received by the Parents Choice Foundation, and Sing with Fred was chosen as one of the best.

The amount of warmth and affection that I receive from the audiences is really what keeps me going and gives me a purpose. I count my blessings every day that Im actually allowed to be an entertainer, says Penner. To me, this is the most important work in the world. As an entertainer, I have a responsibility to my audience; to be a role model to look up to.

Established in 1978, Parents' Choice Foundation is the America's oldest not-for-profit evaluator of children's books, videos, toys, audios, computer software, television, and magazines. The Foundation's mission is to provide parents with information to participate wisely in their children's learning.

Penner has been delighting his audiences for years. He is currently on tour supporting the September release of Sing with Fred, his first CD in six years. With an impressive 12 albums; record sales over a million-unit mark; 11 home videos; a popular television program; several childrens books, the release of an interactive CD-ROM, and his latest CD, Fred Penner shows no signs of slowing down.
