The Wailin' Jennys on CMT

Posted on

Juno-winning roots trio The Wailin' Jennys spent some time in the capital of country music back in October, tapping into a lucrative new market with a recording for CMT. Their performance on CMT's Studio 330 Sessions in Nashville is now available online, include live renditions of four of their songs and a few brief interview clips. Past Studio 330 Sessions performers include Dwight Yoakam, Kathleen Edwards, The Road Hammers, Rhonda Vincent, and fellow Manitoba roots act The Duhks.

The CMT performance is an important step for The Jennys, who have spent much of the last two years touring tirelessly throughout the U.S., introducing their brand of melodic folk/pop to very receptive audiences not only through live shows but also regular appearances on Garrison Keillor's heralded NPR show A Prairie Home Companion. Thirty-one weeks and counting in the top 10 on Billboard Top Bluegrass Albums chart serves to show that American listeners are definitely embracing the band.
