Free Press Goes on Strike

Posted on

Winnipeg Free Press workers celebrated turkey day by walking off the job yesterday at noon. The strike also effects the Freep-owned Canstar Community News which puts out six papers including this city's only entertainment weekly: Uptown Magazine. Which means no concert listings or local music coverage from either outlet until the labour dispute is resolved.

Reporters and columnists have launched their own website for the duration of the strike, freepressonstrike.com, so readers can still get their news and sports fix. As of yet, the site doesn't have a designated arts and entertainment section.

While not producing a physical paper and missing all its staff, the management at the Freep are maintaining winnipegfreepress.com.
